Titanium 6-2-4-2 is a near-alpha high strength titanium alloy that shows a good combination of properties such as tensile strength, creep strength, and toughness. This alloy shows long term stability at temperatures up to 800°F i.e. (425°C). maximum 0.1% of silicon is frequently added to improve the creep resistance of Ti. Titanium Grade 6-2-4-2 UNS R54620 material is produced by primary melting under vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB) melting, or plasma arc cold hearth melting (PAM).
Product forms include forging billet, forged or rolled bar, flat rolled products, extrusions, and wire. Ti 6/2/4/2 Alloy is used in gas turbine engines for compressor blades, discs, and impellers. This Near-Alpha High Strength Titanium Alloy also has applications in afterburner structures as well as for airframe skin applications.
Physical properties of Ti-6-2-4-2 are as follows-
