Cupronickel alloy pipes ASTM B 466 / ASTM B 467 ASME SB 467 are highly used in onshore applications due to their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, low macro fouling rates, and good fabricability. Nickel is added to copper in order to improve its strength and corrosion resistance property.
This alloy is easily formable and ductile. Copper-nickel Pipe holds very good resistance to corrosion in seawater and therefore Copper Nickel Seamless Pipe is used for piping, heat exchangers and condensers in seawater systems, marine hardware, and sometimes for the propellers, crankshafts and hulls of premium tugboats, fishing boats and other working boats.
The two common types of cupronickel pipes are

  • 90/10 Cupro-nickel pipe (copper-nickel-iron)
  • 70/30 Cupro-nickel pipe (copper-nickel-iron).
