Nimonic 115 Welding
Welding techniques recommended for Nimonic 115™ include gas-tungsten arc welding, gas metal-arc welding, submerged-arc welding and shielded metal-arc welding.
A precipitation hardenable nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy available at FASTWELL is with an addition of molybdenum for solid-solution strengthening. Apart from molybdenum it has higher levels of aluminum and titanium for extra strengthening. The alloy has high strength and creep resistance at temperatures 1850°F (1010°C) and is widely used for turbine blades in aircraft, gas turbines.
Nimonic alloy 115 tube is available in tube form for forging, and as extruded and cold worked section for direct machining of turbine blades. However, FASTWELL will produce other forms of it against special order. W. Nr. 2.4636. alloy 115 tubeincludes Billet, Bar, Forgings and Parts - BS HR 4, AECMA PrEn 2196 & 2197.
The nominal composition includes .0.12-0.2 % carbon, 14.0-16.0 Chromium, 13.0-15.5 cobalt, 3.0-5.0 molybdenum , 4.5-5.5 aluminium and other metals in small proportions. Its Density is 7.85 g/cm3/ 0.284 lb/in3 which is dependent on processing variables, Melting range 1260-1315°C, Specific Heat 444 J/kg-°C (20°C), Thermal Conductivity 10.6 W/m-°C (20°C) and Electrical Resistivity 139 µΩ cm (20°C).
