Seamless Carbon Steel A333 Pipes
ASME SA333 covers average wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temp. In this, several grades of ferritic steel are included. Some product sizes of ASTM A333 GR.6 Carbon Steel Pipe may not be available under this specification because of heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temp. impact properties.
333 Low Temperature Steel Pipe is available in 3 standard grades, Grade 1/Grade 3/Grade 6. For decrease in 0.01% of carbon below 0.30%, a 0.05% of raise in manganese above 1.06% would be permitted to a maximum of 1.35% manganese. When Grade 6 is ordered under this specification, supplying an alloy grade that specifically requires the addition of any element other than those listed for the ordered grade is not permitted. However, the addition of elements required for the deoxidation of the steel is permitted.
Gr 1 Sour Service Line Pipes are also commonly used for pressure piping of compressed gas, where even a minor crack would be expected to have shattering consequences.
