Titanium 6-2-4-2 Tube’s heat treatment is Stress relief annealed done from 900°F - 1,300°F (482°C - 704°C) followed by air cool or slow cool. Ti 6-2-4-2 UNS R54620 Tube’s material is solution treated from 1,650 - 1,750°F (899 - 954°C) for 1 hour and air cool. Later on it is stabilized at 1,100°F (593°C) for 8 hours and air cool. Small increases in tensile strength may be obtained by with the help of solution treating and aging, small increase in tensile strength can take place but reducing the creep strength at the same time.
Titanium 6AL 2Sn 4Zr 2Mo is a two-phase, Alpha alloy. It is usually used in the annealed or solution treated and aged conditions. It’s a heat treatable, high strength alloy with lower toughness and ductility it’s difficult to weld. Cold forming of Titanium 6Al-6V-2Sn is difficult because of its high strength and the large amount of spring-back that results.
This grade’s applications include compressor components, hot airframe skin, and engine afterburner structures can be welded by the inert gas shielded, fusion welding process but the heat affected area will have less ductility and toughness over the parent material.
